Hello

We are Nikki and Kathryn, ex-founders of Digital Mums. The Social Club is our new venture and while we have a new name and new look we have the same passion to support women into social media careers, the same award-winning courses and access to the same community of freelancers

Our Story

We set up our first boutique social media agency Hackney Social way back in 2011 developing social media solutions for brands in East London. Two years later we had too  many clients to manage and needed to grow a team of social media marketers and so we came up with the idea for Digital Mums to upskill mothers into creative, flexible, rewarding careers in the social media industry and to help solve the growing digital skills gap in the UK.

As Founders of Digital Mums, we built a 7 figure business, trained thousands of women in social media marketing and delivered social media marketing consultancy to over 600 small businesses across sectors as varied as recruitment, technology, wellness, fashion, beauty and everything in between. Our learning model has won awards, been recognised by the Department of Education for its innovative design and has delivered some serious social impact, from creating jobs that have generated millions of pounds for the economy to improving the confidence, self-esteem and employability outcomes for thousands of women.

Before becoming an entrepreneur in 2011 Kathryn occupied Head of Digital roles advising global organisations from Governments to charities on their digital strategies, including how to harness social media. This included advising the NHS on how to build online communities for professionals so she also have 15 years experience in community-design. She has over 20 years experience working in marketing and communications and started using social media to build a brand for the first time in 2005.

Nikki spent over a decade working at advertising and marketing agencies supporting big-name brands before setting up on her own. In her role as Head of Social for M&C Saatchi Arts she developed social strategies for arts brands with clients ranging from the Bolshoi Ballet to the Royal Opera House. When working at the innovation marketing agency The Bakery she supported global brands with their innovation strategies.

Our achievements

We are proud of so many of our achievements but our all time top favourites are:

  • We helped create a market of businesses exclusively set up to support women with children into flexible careers in the digital marketing space. Today there are lots of amazing organisations in this area but a decade ago there was very little support for women that wanted a rewarding career that was also flexible.

  • We built the first-ever community for female, freelance Social Media Marketers in 2013 with exclusive access for Digital Mums alumni and we are now excited to expand access beyond this for the first time with our new private membership.

  • We have won some amazing awards and had some incredible experiences including Red Woman of the Year, Marie Claire's Future Shapers and Stella Magazines 40 women over 40 shaping the internet.

  • Our work has been featured on BBC News, the BBC One Show, in Mashable, The Drum, Campaign, The Mail, The Times, The Observer, The Guardian, Metro, The Independent, Red Magazine, Marie Claire, Good Housekeeping and Prima.

Our values

We invested heavily in social impact, campaigning and lobbying work at our not-for-profit Digital Mums. We care about people not profit and these values mean that when you work with us you know we care more about supporting you than we do about making money. We believe in ethical marketing. Our prices are always transparent, we never guarantee unrealistic results and all testimonials and case studies we share will be recent.
